Physical Therapist Job Summary
The Physical Therapist provides comprehensive Physical Therapy services to patients as referred, including assessment, treatment plan development, implementation, follow-up, and discharge planning. The role includes active participation in clinical operations, program development, and performance improvement activities, along with oversight of student and volunteer programs.
Responsibilities- Conduct comprehensive diagnostic evaluations to assess the physical and cognitive abilities of inpatients and outpatients, tailoring approaches to diagnosis and age-specific needs.
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans in collaboration with patients and their families, ensuring measurable goals and methods for achievement.
- Consistently adhere to policies and procedures regarding documentation, including initial evaluations, progress notes, discharge summaries, and other relevant records.
- Participate in patient care and family conferences, in-service training, and various departmental meetings.
- Counsel patients and their families on evaluation results, care, and treatment, and initiate timely discharge planning with effective education and training.
- Assist in the coordination and supervision of Physical Therapy and Physical Therapy Assistant student programs, as well as volunteer initiatives.
- Support clinical department functions, including orientation of new staff and patient scheduling for optimal coverage and supervision.
- Demonstrate commitment to the organization’s core values and participate in performance improvement initiatives.
- Maintain productivity standards while developing efficient methods for departmental operations.
- Stay informed about community resources and agencies for appropriate patient referrals and networking.
- Encourage educational opportunities within the department and participate in research activities as appropriate.
- Display competence in providing age-specific and developmental care tailored to each patient's needs.
- Adapt assessment and treatment methods to meet the unique needs of patients across various demographics.
- Foster professional relationships with colleagues and referral sources.
- Perform other related duties as directed as needed.
- Bachelor’s, Master’s, or entry-level Doctorate in Physical Therapy from an accredited college or university.
- Current Physical Therapist licensure in New Mexico.
- BLS certification from AHA is required.
- Proficiency in utilizing all modalities and equipment specified by the relevant regulatory body.
- Successfully complete pre-employment health screenings and annual screenings throughout employment.
Full-time position; 5 days a week, 8 hours per day. The schedule includes Friday through Tuesday.
