CT Technologist Job Summary
CT technologists utilize computerized tomography (CT) scanners to produce cross-section images of patients’ internal organs and tissues for the diagnosis of medical issues. They must interpret physicians’ scanning instructions, administer contrast materials, prepare and operate CT scan equipment, and position the patient to capture the appropriate images. The position requires physically maneuvering equipment and patients while strictly adhering to safety procedures due to radiation exposure.
Essential Functions- Conducts friendly and respectful interactions with patients and staff.
- Proactively offers assistance and works to find solutions if unable to assist directly.
- Advocates for patient privacy and confidentiality.
- Maintains a clean and safe environment within the facility.
- Responds appropriately to emergency situations.
- Ensures compliance with regulations for accreditation and licensure.
- Documents incidents in a timely manner.
- Practices and enforces hand hygiene compliance actively.
- Assures images are of optimum diagnostic quality for accurate interpretations by radiologists.
- Follows pre-determined criteria to assess images for required measurements, volumes, and anatomical information.
- Operates diagnostic CT scan processing and printing equipment to produce quality images.
- Ensures accurate patient positioning for each procedure to enhance image quality.
- Reviews physician orders for accuracy prior to examinations and documents the verification.
- Coordinates daily scheduling and patient flow to ensure timely completion of exams.
- Follows proper contrast injection procedures for optimum enhancement.
- Maintains a secure environment to prevent hazards and ensure the safety of patients, especially children and elderly individuals.
- Recognizes and accommodates the needs of older patients regarding communication and physical endurance.
- Responds appropriately to patients' verbal and nonverbal cues regarding pain and discomfort.

Functional DemandsPhysical Requirements
Exerts 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Frequent reaching, handling, and occasional bending or crouching is required.

Job RequirementsMinimum Education
Graduate from an accredited school of Radiology Technology or equivalent.
Minimum Work Experience
Minimum of 1 year of CT experience; previous experience performing CT scans preferred.
Required Licenses
- MA DPH Radiology License required.
- ARRT (R).
- ARRT (CT) preferred; required within two years of hire.
