Instructional Assistant - Otego, NY

This is an exciting opportunity for dedicated Paraprofessionals to provide essential support as Bus Aides throughout the entire school year. Based near Otego, NY, these contract positions allow you to positively impact students’ daily routines and help ensure their safe and comfortable transportation.

As a Bus Aide, you’ll work approximately 6 hours per day, divided evenly between morning and afternoon schedules. You’ll start and end each shift at the bus yard, assisting with student pick-ups and drop-offs along various routes. Your midday time is completely free, giving you flexibility in your personal schedule.

Key Qualifications:

• Experience supporting children in a school, daycare, transportation, or care-giving setting
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to create a calm and positive environment
• Reliability, punctuality, and a proactive approach to supporting student safety
• Flexibility to work split shifts (morning and afternoon; approximately 3 hours each)
• Commitment to working the full school year

Responsibilities:

• Ride along bus routes, assisting the driver with ensuring student safety during boarding, riding, and exiting
• Attend to any needs or concerns of students during transport, including young children and those with disabilities
• Maintain clear, respectful communication with students and staff
• Foster a positive and inclusive environment on the bus
• Assist with emergency procedures should the need arise
