Production Setup Tech

We are seeking a Production Setup Tech to join our dynamic team on the 3rd shift. This role focuses on high-speed packaging line setup, sanitation, and equipment changeovers, ensuring all processes meet or exceed product specifications while maintaining safety and quality standards. The ideal candidate has strong mechanical aptitude and experience with electromechanical systems, excels in timely changeovers, and supports continuous improvement initiatives within a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

• Disassemble, reassemble, adjust, program, and set up equipment to meet Apex Product Specifications.
• Set up and change over equipment including cappers, fillers, torquers, sleevers, unscramblers, conveyors, labelers, tapers, sorters, sensors, coders, PLCs, pumps, rails, and transfer systems.
• Coordinate and perform tasks related to change parts; clean, sanitize, kit, and stage parts and equipment for timely product changeovers.
• Organize and stage non-sanitized parts for changeovers; inspect parts and equipment after sanitation and prior to staging.
• Follow GMP and safety standards; adhere to sanitation procedures and complete sanitation forms and logs accurately.
• Perform light maintenance as needed to complete sanitation and setup tasks safely and effectively.
• Maintain clean and organized clean-parts, sanitation rooms, and tank farm; hook up totes and tanks to supply product to the line.
• Participate in shift hand-offs to ensure smooth transitions; communicate with team leads, line leads, and maintenance to coordinate product transitions.
• Apply lean tools and 5S practices; support continuous improvement initiatives.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

• 3+ years of manufacturing experience, preferably on high-speed conveyorized packaging lines.
• 1–2 years in maintenance, repair, or setup roles with mechanical or electromechanical systems preferred.
• Demonstrated mechanical and electromechanical aptitude, including metric and English hand tool and fastener knowledge.
• Ability to recall, run, and store existing PLC programs or willingness to learn.
• Strong communication skills; able to read and write procedures and specifications in English.
• High School Diploma or equivalent required; vo-tech training in mechanics, auto repair, or machine repair preferred.
• Basic math skills including fractions and decimals; ability to take accurate measurements.
• Completion of Apex MCP CNS training; good documentation practices and attention to detail.
• Reliable transportation and ability to meet tight deadlines with flexible overtime demands.

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior experience with lean tools and 5S implementation.
• Exposure to PLC-controlled packaging equipment and high-speed changeover practices.
