Job Description
Step into a rewarding role supporting students as an ASL Facilitator, serving schools in the Santa Fe and Albuquerque areas. This contract opportunity is ideal for those with a background in American Sign Language, paraprofessional experience, or sign language interpreting, and a passion for empowering young learners. Work closely with a virtual physical therapist to ensure seamless communication and a positive experience for students who are Deaf or hard of hearing.
Key Qualifications:
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL)
- Experience as a paraprofessional, sign language interpreter, or teacher of ASL
- Ability to facilitate communication between students and staff, especially in a remote therapy setting
- Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills
- Flexibility to travel between school sites if needed
Role Details:
Albuquerque:
- 1-2 days per week at a single school site
- Directly support 15 students ranging from 18 months to 6 years old
- Contract runs from August 3 to June 5
Santa Fe:
- 1-2 days per week at one school location
- Work with 10-15 students, ages 18 months to 22 years
- Position duration: August 3 to June 5
Primary Responsibilities:
- Facilitate effective communication between students and the virtual physical therapist
- Support students during therapy sessions and throughout their school day as needed
- Assist with the use of technology for remote service delivery
- Adapt to the individual needs of students and contribute to a positive learning environment
