Classroom Assistant | Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

Step into a meaningful role supporting students as a Paraprofessional for the 26/27 school year, beginning August 31. Provide vital assistance within a school setting near Philadelphia as you make a daily impact. This contract position involves working 1:1 with students, including a senior boy who requires CNA or PCA-level support, and a 16-year-old nonverbal girl with autism (ASD). Experience with behavioral challenges and personal care tasks are essential.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Offering consistent care and support to assigned students throughout the school day
• Addressing aggressive behaviors with a calm, compassionate approach
• Assisting with toileting needs, including diapering, menstrual care, and all hygiene-related tasks
• Supporting students with communication, transitions, and emotional regulation
• Ensuring a safe and positive learning environment
• Collaborating closely with classroom staff and related service providers
• Documenting student progress and communicating observations as needed

Desired background and qualities:

• Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) or Personal Care Assistant (PCA) qualifications preferred
• Prior experience working with students with autism or developmental disabilities, particularly those who are nonverbal and may exhibit aggressive behaviors
• Confidence and comfort handling personal care tasks, including menstruation care
• Strong patience, adaptability, and capacity to remain calm under pressure
• Must have reliable transportation, as this role is not accessible via public transit
• Ability to start work at 7am and work full-time until 3pm, with the option to leave at 2:30pm if lunch is skipped

This opportunity offers a pay rate up to $22 per hour.
