Job Description
Bring your American Sign Language expertise to a rewarding contract opportunity supporting an elementary-aged student in an educational setting near Live Oak, CA. This full-time paraprofessional position spans 32 hours per week, providing meaningful one-on-one assistance in the classroom and throughout the school day. This role is ideal for someone who is fluent in ASL and passionate about making a positive impact in a student's academic and social journey.
Key Qualifications:
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) is required; must be able to communicate fluently
- No EIPA certification required for this role
- Experience working with children, preferably in a school or educational environment
- Ability to build rapport with students and collaborate with teachers and staff
- Patient, adaptable, and committed to fostering student growth
Primary Responsibilities:
- Work directly with an elementary-aged male student, providing communication support and educational assistance in ASL
- Aid the student in classroom activities, assignments, and transitions throughout the school day
- Collaborate with classroom teachers and support staff to customize student engagement and learning strategies
- Foster a positive, inclusive environment that encourages student independence and participation
- Troubleshoot barriers to communication and learning, offering guidance as needs arise
