Location: Bend, Oregon
Pay: $25.00-$35.00 per hour DOE
Schedule: Monday-Friday
Hours: 8:00 AM-5:00 PM

Experienced Diesel Mechanic Wanted

Express Employment Professionals is recruiting on behalf of a reputable, family-owned diesel repair shop seeking an experienced Diesel Mechanic / Diesel Technician to join their team in Bend, Oregon.

This full-time opportunity is ideal for a skilled mechanic with experience in diesel engine diagnostics, truck repair, heavy equipment maintenance, fleet service, hydraulic systems, electrical systems, and preventative maintenance. You'll work on a diverse range of diesel-powered equipment, including light-duty trucks, medium-duty trucks, buses, construction equipment, agricultural machinery, generators, and fleet vehicles.

Key Responsibilities Diesel Engine Diagnostics & Repair
  • Diagnose and repair diesel engine, electrical, hydraulic, air brake, turbocharger, and exhaust system issues.
  • Utilize diagnostic software, scan tools, and testing equipment to identify mechanical and electrical problems.
  • Disassemble, inspect, repair, and reassemble diesel engines and related components.
  • Conduct engine tune-ups and replace worn, damaged, or defective parts.
  • Test and inspect repaired vehicles and equipment to ensure proper functionality, safety, and performance.
Preventative Maintenance & Equipment Service
  • Perform routine maintenance and preventative maintenance services on diesel-powered equipment and vehicles.
  • Service and maintain light-duty and medium-duty trucks, buses, generators, agricultural machinery, and construction equipment.
  • Maintain detailed service records and repair documentation.
Shop Operations & Safety
  • Operate diagnostic equipment, vehicle lifts, engine hoists, and specialized diesel repair tools.
  • Perform basic welding and fabrication repairs as needed.
  • Follow all shop safety procedures and maintain a clean, organized, and professional work environment.
  • Collaborate effectively with team members while maintaining the ability to work independently.
Required Qualifications
  • Minimum of 2 years of diesel mechanic experience or related mechanical experience.
  • Strong understanding of diesel engine systems, components, and repair procedures.
  • Experience working on gas-powered engines is beneficial.
  • Proficiency with diagnostic equipment, specialty automotive tools, and troubleshooting processes.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail.
  • Excellent problem-solving and diagnostic skills.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physically demanding work.
  • Diesel Technician certification preferred but not required.
  • Valid driver's license preferred.
