Job Description
Our client is seeking an experienced Project Manager to join a growing heavy civil construction team based in Rancho Cucamonga, CA. This position will oversee multiple wet utility projects throughout Southern California, including the installation of storm drain, sewer, water, and large-diameter water pipeline systems.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background managing underground utility construction projects from preconstruction through closeout and possess the leadership skills necessary to deliver projects safely, on schedule, and within budget.
Responsibilities
- Manage all aspects of wet utility construction projects from contract award through project completion.
- Oversee installation of:
- Storm drain systems
- Sewer mains and force mains
- Domestic and recycled water systems
- Large-diameter water transmission pipelines
- Develop and maintain project schedules, budgets, and cost forecasts.
- Coordinate field operations with superintendents, foremen, subcontractors, inspectors, and utility owners.
- Manage project documentation, RFIs, submittals, change orders, and contract compliance.
- Track project productivity and profitability while identifying opportunities for improved performance.
- Ensure adherence to safety policies, environmental regulations, and quality standards.
- Participate in client meetings and maintain positive relationships with municipalities, water districts, developers, and engineers.
- Assist with project buyout, subcontractor procurement, and material purchasing.
- Lead project teams and mentor project engineers and field staff.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience as a Project Manager, Assistant Project Manager, or Project Engineer working on wet utility construction projects.
- Demonstrated experience managing projects involving:
- Storm drain systems
- Sewer pipelines
- Water pipelines
- Large-diameter water transmission mains
- Strong understanding of underground utility construction means and methods.
- Ability to read and interpret plans, specifications, contracts, and utility standards.
- Experience with scheduling software, project management software, and cost control systems.
- Knowledge of public works and municipal utility projects preferred.
- Strong communication, organizational, and leadership skills.
- Valid driver's license and ability to travel to project sites throughout Southern California.
Preferred Experience
- Public agency, water district, or municipal infrastructure projects.
- Design-build and CMAR project delivery experience.
- Heavy civil or underground utility contractor background.
- Experience managing projects valued at $5M+
