Job Description
Bring your expertise in American Sign Language to a meaningful role supporting students in engaging educational environments. As an ASL Facilitator working across both Albuquerque and Santa Fe areas, you’ll play an essential part in helping young learners thrive, collaborating closely with a virtual physical therapist to ensure a smooth and effective learning experience. This highly collaborative, contract-based opportunity focuses on empowering students with a range of communication needs from early childhood to young adulthood.
Qualifications & Desired Experience:
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) is required
- Previous experience as a Paraprofessional, Sign Language Interpreter, or ASL Teacher preferred
- Comfort working with students of diverse ages, from 18 months to 22 years
- Ability to facilitate communication between students and a virtual service provider
- Strong organizational and multitasking skills
- Compassion, patience, and a commitment to supporting student growth
Key Responsibilities:
- Facilitate communication and sessions between students and a virtual physical therapist, using ASL as needed
- Support ongoing learning, therapy, and classroom activities
- Adapt communication to suit student age and ability levels
- Maintain clear records and feedback for school staff and therapists
- Ensure a supportive, inclusive atmosphere for all students
Details:
- Contract position, August 3 - June 5
- Albuquerque location: 1-2 days per week, 1 site, approx. 15 students ages 18 months to 6 years
- Santa Fe location: 1-2 days per week, 1 site, approx. 10-15 students ages 18 months to 22 years
