Classroom Assistant | Caliente, California

Make a meaningful impact by supporting a dedicated 11th-grade student in their educational journey as a 1:1 paraprofessional near the Caliente, CA area. This contract position offers the opportunity to work closely with a student who is developing crucial Braille skills, currently at a 1st-grade level. If you’re passionate about fostering academic growth and enjoy working one-on-one, this role will offer daily chances to encourage, instruct, and celebrate small victories.

Candidates with a background in special education support, paraprofessional roles, or experience assisting students with visual impairments are encouraged to apply. With the school year starting in just two weeks, your expertise and presence are needed urgently to ensure a smooth beginning for this student.

Qualifications and Experience:

• Previous experience as a paraprofessional in a school setting preferred
• Familiarity with Braille or willingness to learn to assist the student effectively
• Patience, adaptability, and enthusiasm for working with students who need individualized support
• Strong communication and collaboration skills with teachers, therapists, and families
• Ability to motivate and engage a student in both academic and life skills learning

Role Responsibilities:

• Provide 1:1 support for an 11th-grade student, focusing on Braille literacy
• Assist with academic assignments and activities tailored to the student’s abilities
• Monitor and track progress, providing encouraging feedback
• Collaborate closely with instructional staff to adapt materials and strategies
• Foster a positive, inclusive, and encouraging environment in the classroom

This assignment covers the full school year at a consistent 25 hours per week (5 hours per day). Your commitment will be instrumental in supporting the student’s growth and independence.
