Classroom Assistant | Oakland, California

Qualifications and Experience:

• Previous experience as a paraprofessional, instructional aide, or educational assistant preferred
• Ability to provide respectful, effective support to students with diverse backgrounds and needs
• Familiarity with classroom management techniques and special education accommodations is a plus
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills to collaborate with teachers, staff, and families
• High school diploma or equivalent required; some college coursework in education or related field preferred
• Dependable, adaptable, and compassionate approach to working in school settings

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist classroom teachers with instructional activities, lesson preparation, and supervision
• Provide one-on-one or small group support to students to help meet educational goals
• Support students with special needs by implementing individualized education programs (IEPs) under teacher direction
• Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment
• Aid in managing classroom routines, transitions, and behavior
• Supervise students in classroom, lunchroom, playground, or other settings as needed
