Research Associate I - Cell Culture & Lab Automation

esearch Associate I – Cell Culture & Lab Automation | Santa Monica, CA | $36/hr

ATR International is hiring a Research Associate I to support a growing lab in Santa Monica, CA. This is a great opportunity for someone with hands-on mammalian cell culture experience who wants to grow their skills in an automated, high-throughput research environment.

What You'll Do:

• Execute lab experiments per established protocols and support automated workflows using liquid handling and sample processing systems
• Perform mammalian cell culture, cell counting, media preparation, and routine lab procedures
• Prepare reagents, consumables, and materials for experiments
• Maintain accurate records in electronic lab notebooks and data management systems
• Support data collection, quality checks, and organization of experimental results
• Troubleshoot routine lab and automation workflow issues
• Assist with inventory management, equipment maintenance, and general lab organization
• Collaborate with scientists, engineers, and core facility staff to keep experiments on schedule
• Follow all lab safety and compliance requirements

What You'll Need:

• Bachelor's degree in biology, biotechnology, bioengineering, molecular biology, immunology, or related field (or equivalent combination of education/experience)
• Hands-on lab experience in an academic, biotech, pharma, or comparable research setting
• Familiarity with aseptic technique and mammalian cell culture (academic, internship, or professional)
• Strong attention to detail, organization, and time management
• Ability to follow established procedures and maintain accurate documentation
• Strong written/verbal communication and ability to work across multidisciplinary teams

Nice to Have:

• Experience with lab automation equipment, including liquid handling systems
• Familiarity with cell-based assays, flow cytometry sample prep, or molecular biology techniques
• Experience with ELNs, LIMS, or similar data management tools
• Basic data analysis/visualization skills (Excel, GraphPad Prism, etc.)
• Comfort managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced research environment

Pay: $36/hr | Location: Santa Monica, CA
