In this critical role, you will be instrumental in assisting the student with foundational Braille skills, currently at a first-grade level, and ensuring a positive, supportive educational environment throughout the full school year. Key Qualifications & Experience:
- Previous experience as a paraprofessional or classroom aide, particularly working with students with visual impairments or special needs
- Familiarity with Braille or a strong willingness to learn Braille instructional methods
- Patience, compassion, and a strong commitment to student success
- Ability to collaborate closely with teachers, specialists, and school staff
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Reliable and professional with a strong attendance record
Main Responsibilities:
- Provide personalized, 1:1 assistance to an 11th-grade student during school hours
- Support the student’s progress in Braille literacy and reinforce learning materials
- Help facilitate the student’s participation in classroom activities and encourage independence
- Document progress and maintain open communication with teachers and staff
- Adapt teaching strategies per the student’s learning needs and progress
