Job Summary
The Technician, Critical Power/Data Center Services is responsible to install, maintain, test, and troubleshoot UPS systems, batteries, switchgear, PDUs, and other mission-critical electrical equipment. This is a field-service position with more than 50% travel, including overnight and out-of-state work. This position reports to the Regional Service Manager or designee and does not have any direct reports.
Key Job Responsibilities
- Reliable attendance and punctuality.
- Always maintain a safe work environment by adhering to established safety protocols and completing all required safety and compliance training by designated deadlines.
- Perform preventive maintenance, commissioning, testing, troubleshooting, and repairs.
- Participate in a rotating on-call schedule to provide after-hours support as needed.
- Diagnose electrical failures and complete corrective actions.
- Read schematics, one-line diagrams, MOPs, and OEM procedures.
- Safely use electrical and battery test equipment.
- Document service work and communicate findings to customers.
- Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Preferred Experience
- Three-phase UPS systems, switchgear, battery systems, or electrical commissioning.
- Electrical/electronic degree, technical certification, military training, or OEM factory training.
Key Performance Measurements
- A score card that reflects performance in areas such as safety, efficiency, greater than 80% billable time, work order completion, customer satisfaction, and issue resolution.
- Other key performance measurements as assigned.
Job Requirements:
- High School diploma or GED required.
- Certification in recognized Electronics / Electricity based curriculum through a technical college or military training program.
- Electrical/electronic experience and knowledge of AC/DC theory.
- Ability to read electrical schematics and safely use test equipment.
- Must have a valid driver's license. May be required to rent and operate a vehicle on an occasional basis and must be able to satisfy all associated rental and driving requirements.
- Strong troubleshooting, communication, and customer-service skills.
- Ability to travel up to 50% and participate in on-call emergency service.
- Ability to pass required background, drug, and customer screenings.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a DOT medical card and meet applicable commercial-driving requirements.
- Ability to wear required PPE and occasionally team lift up to 100 pounds.
- Intermediate level of computer skills required. This should include but not limited to Microsoft Office, PDF Converter Professional and Outlook.
Concentric Technicians may need to travel out of state to perform work. The Department of Transportation (DOT) has several requirements for drivers of commercial motor vehicles weighing less than 26,001 pounds who are driving across state lines, including:
- Drivers must be at least 18 years old to drive "Intrastate". Drivers must be at least 21 years old to drive "Interstate".
- Drivers must have a valid driver's license at all times.
- Drivers must have a valid DOT medical card or the ability to obtain DOT medical card per DOT/FMCA guidelines during the hiring process. Drivers must continue to maintain their active medical card status throughout their employment.
- Drivers must follow the DOT's HOS regulations.
- Drivers must be able to obtain a CDL to drive commercial motor vehicles or combination vehicles weighing more than 26,000 lbs.
