# Substitute & Full-Time Special Education Aides – $20–$24/hr | Elk Grove / South Sacramento, CA

ProCare Therapy is hiring Special Education Aides for K–12 school-based opportunities throughout the Elk Grove and South Sacramento area.

This is an excellent opportunity to start as a substitute, gain experience across different Special Education programs, and potentially transition into a consistent full-time assignment.

 Position Details

* Substitute Pay: $20 per hour
* Full-Time Pay: $22–$24 per hour based on assigned caseload
* Full-time assignments: 30–32.5 hours per week
* Monday–Friday school schedule
* K–12 opportunities
* Weekly paychecks
* Multiple school sites and Special Education programs
* Opportunities primarily throughout the Elk Grove / South Sacramento area

 How Substitute Assignments Work

Substitute aides provide coverage across different schools and Special Education programs based on daily staffing needs.

* Be available to confirm assignments around 7:00 AM Pacific
* Assignment start times range from approximately 7:45–9:00 AM
* School location may vary based on the day's need
* Elementary, middle, and high school opportunities
* 1:1 and classroom-based assignments
* Opportunity to gain experience across multiple SPED settings

Reliability, flexibility, and consistent morning availability are important for substitute candidates.

Opportunity to Transition Into Full-Time

Strong substitutes may have the opportunity to move into a consistent 30–32.5 hour-per-week position as full-time caseloads become available.

Pay is based on the level of your assigned caseload:

* Level 2: $22 per hour
* Level 3: $23 per hour
* Level 4: $24 per hour

Higher-level assignments generally involve students requiring a greater level of direct support.

 Onboarding Requirements & Reimbursement

We want candidates to understand the onboarding process and initial costs before accepting a position.

* Drug screening is fully paid for by ProCare
* Live Scan fingerprinting is required and typically costs approximately $25–$80 depending on the location selected
* A TB Risk Assessment form must be completed by a medical professional
* Candidates are responsible for paying the initial Live Scan and TB-related costs out of pocket
* These required expenses will be reimbursed on your first paycheck, which is received during the second week of your assignment
* Simply provide proof of payment/receipts to receive reimbursement

Please note: Candidates must be able to cover these initial onboarding expenses. Unfortunately, if you are unable to pay the required upfront Live Scan and TB costs, we will not be able to successfully complete the onboarding process.

Who We're Looking For

Previous school experience is helpful but not required. Relevant experience can come from Special Education, childcare, ABA, behavioral support, caregiving, DSP work, youth programs, or working with individuals with disabilities.

Candidates should be dependable, flexible about their assigned school site, comfortable working with K–12 students, and willing to support students across different Special Education environments.
