Special Education Teachers Needed - Brooklyn

Full-Time School-Year Position

Position Summary

Bond Health Staffing is seeking dedicated Special Education Teachers for a respected nonprofit organization in Brooklyn. This role involves providing high-quality educational services to preschool and school-age students in accordance with each student's IFSP or IEP while working collaboratively with families and multidisciplinary teams. Candidates must hold, or be actively working toward, New York State Special Education certification and Early Childhood certification as required.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Plan and conduct educational programs tailored to students' individual needs.

  • Develop, implement, and evaluate IFSPs and IEPs, including short- and long-term goals.

  • Conduct educational assessments and participate in evaluations and intake processes.

  • Prepare lesson plans and adapt classroom materials and learning environments.

  • Maintain attendance, progress notes, and required educational documentation.

  • Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings, annual reviews, and parent conferences.

  • Supervise and support Teacher Assistants assigned to the classroom.

  • Assist with curriculum development and student transitions.

  • Participate in staff meetings, professional development, and in-service training.

  • Assist with student transportation, toileting, feeding, and positioning when required.

  • Maintain confidentiality and comply with all applicable regulations and school policies.

  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications
  • New York State Certification in Special Education required.

  • New York State Early Childhood Education Certification or N-6 certification (for Day Care/UPK positions).

  • Candidates actively working toward certification may be considered under an approved Board of Education study plan.

  • Registered with the NYS TEACH system.

  • Board of Education and Department of Investigation fingerprint clearance (or willingness to obtain).

  • Completion of Domestic Violence and Child Abuse workshops.

  • Current pre-employment physical with required immunization documentation (PPD, MMR, TDAP, Varicella).

  • Strong communication, classroom management, organizational, and teamwork skills.
