Shinnery Oak Community is seeking skilled and compassionate Certified Occupational Therapy Assistants (COTAs) to join our in-house subacute rehabilitation program. We are currently hiring for full-time and per diem (PRN) opportunities.

This is an excellent opportunity to provide meaningful, hands-on care while helping residents improve their independence, functional abilities, and quality of life in a supportive, team-oriented environment.

Job Summary

The Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) works under the direction and supervision of a licensed Occupational Therapist (OT) to provide skilled occupational therapy services to residents in a subacute and long-term care setting.

The COTA assists with implementing individualized treatment programs designed to improve residents' ability to perform activities of daily living, enhance functional mobility, promote safety, and maximize independence.

Responsibilities

  • Provide skilled occupational therapy treatments in accordance with established plans of care and under the supervision of a licensed Occupational Therapist
  • Assist with implementing individualized treatment programs based on residents' functional needs and goals
  • Provide therapeutic activities and exercises to improve strength, coordination, balance, mobility, and functional independence
  • Assist residents with activities of daily living, including dressing, grooming, toileting, feeding, and other self-care tasks
  • Monitor and document residents' responses to treatment and progress toward established goals
  • Communicate changes in residents' condition and progress to the supervising Occupational Therapist and appropriate interdisciplinary team members
  • Document evaluations, treatments, and patient progress in compliance with company policies and applicable regulatory standards
  • Collaborate with nursing staff, physicians, therapists, and other members of the interdisciplinary team
  • Educate residents, families, and caregivers regarding therapeutic techniques, safety strategies, and carryover of treatment programs
  • Participate in care plan meetings and interdisciplinary team discussions as needed
  • Ensure all services are delivered in accordance with state and federal regulations and professional standards

Qualifications & Skills

  • Current Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) certification required
  • Current Texas Occupational Therapy Assistant license required
  • Graduate of an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program
  • SNF, subacute, or long-term care experience preferred
  • Strong clinical, organizational, and documentation skills
  • Knowledge of current occupational therapy practices and applicable regulatory guidelines
  • Experience with electronic documentation systems; Net Health preferred
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Compassionate, patient-centered approach to resident care
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with an interdisciplinary team

Schedule

Full-Time: Regular full-time position with a consistent schedule and benefits eligibility, as applicable.

Per Diem (PRN): Flexible, as-needed scheduling for therapists seeking additional hours or greater schedule flexibility.
