Snelling is currently seeking an experienced Outdoor Rough Terrain Large-Capacity Forklift Operator & Material Handler for a growing company in the steel manufacturing industry. The Large-Capacity Forklift Operator will be responsible for safely moving, loading, unloading, and staging oversized steel materials throughout the yard and production areas. Candidates must be comfortable operating outdoor rough terrain, large-capacity forklifts and handling loads that average approximately 20,000 pounds and 50 feet in length, with some loads reaching up to 85,000 pounds and 100 feet in length.
Pay: $22.00-24.00/hr, depending on experience
Shift: 1st shift, 6:30 am start time, and overtime
Responsibilities of Large-Capacity Forklift Operator:
- Operate outdoor rough terrain, large-capacity forklifts to safely load and unload flatbed trucks.
- Handle large steel plates, raw materials, and completed steel pipe products.
- Transport and stage materials throughout the yard to support production operations.
- Accurately label materials to maintain traceability and inventory control.
- Complete Bills of Lading (BOLs), final load-out inspections, and shipping documentation.
- Assist with inventory management and monthly physical inventory counts.
- Conduct daily equipment inspections and report maintenance or safety concerns.
- Assist with coating applications on finished products as needed.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
- Follow all company policies, safety procedures, and OSHA requirements.
Qualifications Required of Large-Capacity Forklift Operator:
- Previous experience operating outdoor rough terrain, large-capacity forklifts is required.
- Experience handling heavy, oversized, long, or awkward loads.
- Experience in steel manufacturing, pipe manufacturing, construction, or other heavy industrial environments is preferred.
- Familiarity with Bills of Lading, shipping documentation, and inventory processes.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Basic math skills and the ability to read and use a tape measure.
- Ability to work outdoors in varied weather conditions.
- Strong commitment to workplace safety and awareness of load stability and surroundings.
- Must be able to work outside year round
