Occupational Therapy Assistant

Job Summary

Okeechobee SNF Operations, LLC, a 210-bed Skilled Nursing Facility, is seeking a compassionate and skilled Occupational Therapy Assistant (OTA) to join our interdisciplinary team. As an OTA, you will work under the supervision of a registered occupational therapist to provide high-quality occupational therapy services to our residents. Responsibilities

  • Assist in the practice of occupational therapy and activities requiring an understanding of occupational therapy but not requiring professional or advanced training in the anatomical, biological, and physical sciences involved in the practice of occupational therapy.

  • Implement the occupational therapy treatment plan as established by the occupational therapist in accordance with the American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA) guidelines.

  • Record the resident's progress and request reexamination as needed.

  • Offer suggestions, provide feedback, and carry out agreed-upon activities with the occupational therapist.

  • Interview new and returning residents to assist in determining their health and rate of recovery.

  • Document occupational therapy services by charting in the resident medical record.

  • Comply with facility policies and procedures for documenting residents receiving occupational therapy services.

  • Schedule and coordinate with facility nursing staff therapy sessions for residents as instructed by the occupational therapist or rehabilitation director.

  • Prepare required documentation according to facility policy for billing purposes, discharge planning, etc.

Requirements

  • Valid, unrestricted license in your therapy discipline in the state of Florida

  • Meet educational requirements of your licensure

  • Valid driver's license in the state of employment

  • Knowledgeable of skilled nursing home regulations, procedures, laws, and guidelines pertaining to long-term care

  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills

  • Ability to lift, push, and pull up to 50 pounds
