Athra Systems is seeking a detail-oriented and dependable Payroll Specialist to support the accurate and timely processing of payroll across the organization. This position will work within the Human Resources department and collaborate closely with Finance, operational leadership, employees, providers, and our payroll/HRIS partner.

The Payroll Specialist will assist with payroll preparation and processing, employee and provider pay changes, payroll documentation, deductions, reconciliations, and resolution of payroll-related questions. The ideal candidate is highly organized, comfortable working with confidential information, and able to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced healthcare environment.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Process and review payroll to ensure employees and providers are paid accurately and timely.

  • Maintain payroll records, employee compensation information, deductions, and payroll-related documentation.

  • Review payroll data for accuracy prior to submission and identify discrepancies requiring correction.

  • Enter and maintain compensation changes, payroll adjustments, deductions, and other payroll-related updates within the HRIS/payroll system.

  • Coordinate new-hire payroll setup and ensure required payroll documentation is complete.

  • Assist with processing employee separations, final payroll information, and applicable payroll adjustments.

  • Review timekeeping information and follow up on missing or incomplete time records and approvals as needed.

  • Partner with managers to resolve timekeeping and payroll discrepancies.

  • Respond to employee and provider questions regarding paychecks, deductions, pay schedules, and payroll processes.

  • Assist with provider payroll, including monthly payroll preparation and applicable compensation adjustments.

  • Coordinate with Finance regarding payroll funding, deductions, adjustments, and other payroll matters.

  • Work directly with Insperity and other payroll representatives to research and resolve payroll issues.

  • Maintain accurate and confidential payroll files and documentation.

  • Assist with payroll audits, reconciliations, reports, and recordkeeping.

  • Ensure payroll processes are completed in accordance with company policies and applicable federal and state requirements.

  • Support Human Resources with additional payroll and administrative responsibilities as needed.

Qualifications
  • 2+ years of payroll, HR, accounting, or related administrative experience preferred.

  • Prior experience processing payroll strongly preferred.

  • Experience with an HRIS/payroll platform required; Insperity experience is a plus.

  • Working knowledge of payroll practices, deductions, timekeeping, and wage-and-hour requirements.

  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.

  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills.

  • Ability to manage multiple payroll deadlines and competing priorities.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential employee information with discretion.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and/or Google Workspace, particularly spreadsheets.

  • Experience working in a multi-state organization or healthcare environment is a plus.
