Lillie Mae’s Cajun Kitchen is looking for a dependable, hardworking Starter Prep Cook to join our kitchen team. This is a great opportunity for someone who wants to gain restaurant experience, learn kitchen operations, and grow into a larger cooking role.

Previous restaurant experience is helpful but not required. We are willing to train the right person!

POSITION SUMMARY

The Starter Prep Cook will assist our kitchen team with basic food preparation, stocking, cleaning, and keeping ingredients ready for daily service. You will work closely with our cooks and kitchen management to help ensure the kitchen is prepared for busy lunch and dinner service.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Wash, cut, chop, slice, and portion ingredients
• Prepare vegetables, meats, seafood, sauces, and other ingredients as directed
• Measure and portion ingredients according to recipes
• Assist with preparing ingredients for menu items
• Stock and organize prep stations
• Label, date, rotate, and properly store food
• Follow FIFO (First In, First Out) procedures
• Help receive and properly store food deliveries
• Maintain clean and sanitized prep areas
• Wash and sanitize prep equipment and utensils
• Sweep, clean, and maintain kitchen work areas
• Assist cooks during busy periods when needed
• Follow recipes, portion sizes, and food quality standards
• Follow all food safety and sanitation requirements
• Complete assigned opening, closing, and prep duties
• Perform additional kitchen duties as assigned by management

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Candidates should be able to:

• Stand and move for extended periods
• Bend, reach, and perform repetitive kitchen tasks
• Safely lift and carry up to approximately 40–50 lbs.
• Work around hot equipment and in a busy commercial kitchen environment

EXPERIENCE

Entry-level candidates are encouraged to apply.

Restaurant, food preparation, or kitchen experience is preferred but not required. We are looking for candidates with a strong work ethic and willingness to learn.
