About the Firm
We are representing a well-established, full-service CPA firm with a national client base spanning tax, advisory, and consulting services. The firm has earned a strong reputation by taking a proactive approach to tax strategy — focused not just on compliance, but on helping individuals, businesses, and family offices meaningfully reduce their tax burden. The culture here is collaborative and relationship-driven, and their retention speaks for itself.
About the Role
This is a review and advisory role at its core. The firm's private equity and family office client base is growing, and they need a Tax Manager who functions as the technical authority on the most complex partnership and transactional work coming through the door. You'll spend the bulk of your time reviewing returns and workpapers, advising clients on planning opportunities, and serving as the resource the team leans on when the issues get complicated.
Key Responsibilities
Review complex partnership and corporate returns involving partner and shareholder sales and redemptions, asset sales, part-sale/part-rollover transactions, and taxable and tax-free reorganizations
Provide technical oversight on 704(b) waterfall allocations, 704(c) tracking, and 743(b)/734(b) basis adjustments
Review workpapers and returns with complex book-to-tax adjustments and multi-state exposure
Advise clients on tax planning opportunities across transactions, structures, and ongoing strategy
Act as a primary relationship owner for private equity and family office clients, staying ahead of issues before they become problems
Oversee 1031 exchange transactions and related reporting
Lead technical research on complex issues and serve as the go-to resource for senior and associate-level staff
Hold the standard on quality and delivery across a portfolio of client engagements
Requirements
5+ years in public accounting with meaningful, hands-on experience in complex partnership and transactional tax
Deep fluency in Subchapter K — 704(b)/(c), 743(b)/734(b)
Review-level experience with M&A, reorganizations, or similar transactional work required
Demonstrated ability to advise clients on technical tax matters, not just prepare and review returns
Multi-state experience preferred
CPA or EA preferred
Bachelor's in Accounting required; Master's in Taxation a plus
Track record of managing client relationships, developing staff, and translating technical complexity into clear communication
Benefits
Base salary: $110k-$150k, commensurate with experience
Annual discretionary bonus up to 10%
20 days PTO; overtime beyond 40 hours converts to additional comp time
100% company-paid family health and dental insurance premiums
401(k) with dollar-for-dollar company match up to 6%
Fully Remote
