Registered Nurse (RN)

The Orchards Facilities are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Registered Nurse (RN) to join our Nursing team.

Position Summary

The Registered Nurse is responsible for providing and overseeing nursing care for residents while maintaining a safe, supportive, and abuse-free environment. The RN assesses resident needs, monitors changes in condition, oversees nursing staff, administers medications and treatments, and ensures care is provided in accordance with physician orders, professional nursing standards, facility policies, and applicable regulations.

What You'll Do

  • Assess residents and recognize significant changes in condition. 
  • Complete required nursing assessments and maintain accurate documentation. 
  • Notify physicians, families, and responsible parties of significant changes in resident condition. 
  • Oversee care provided by LPNs, nursing assistants, and restorative aides. 
  • Conduct daily rounds to monitor resident care and address concerns. 
  • Coordinate resident care with physicians, nursing staff, ancillary departments, home care providers, and families. 
  • Complete and verify monthly physician orders. 
  • Administer medications and treatments as prescribed. 
  • Order routine and PRN medications as needed. 
  • Maintain accurate controlled substance counts. 
  • Ensure nursing practices comply with the Nurse Practice Act, applicable regulations, and The Orchards facilities' policies and procedures. 
  • Provide and receive shift reports regarding resident status and changes in condition. 
  • Identify staff training needs and communicate concerns to the Director of Nursing. 
  • Respond appropriately to emergencies and changes in resident condition. 
  • Immediately report allegations of abuse or neglect and assist with investigations as required. 
  • Participate in required nursing in-services, committee meetings, and ongoing education. 
  • Promote resident dignity, safety, comfort, and quality of life. 
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support quality resident care. 

Leadership Responsibilities

The RN directly supervises Care Supervisors and provides oversight and direction to nursing staff. Responsibilities include assigning and directing work, addressing staff concerns, supporting performance management, and promoting quality resident care.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing. 
  • Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in West Virginia, Ohio or compact license required. 
  • CPR and First Aid certification required. 
  • IV certification preferred. 
  • Ability to complete required continuing education and annual state-mandated training. 
  • Previous experience in skilled nursing, long-term care, assisted living, or geriatric nursing preferred. 
  • Experience working with residents with dementia, Alzheimer's disease, or other specialized healthcare needs preferred. 
  • Strong assessment, communication, organization, and leadership skills. 
  • Ability to work effectively with residents, families, physicians, and interdisciplinary team members. 
  • Ability to remain calm and make sound decisions in emergency situations. 

Physical Requirements

This position requires the ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, and assist residents with daily care needs. The RN must be able to safely maneuver a medication cart, assist with resident mobility, and occasionally lift or move residents using appropriate equipment and safe resident-handling techniques.

Work Environment

This position is performed in The Orchards facilities and healthcare environments with frequent interaction with residents, families, and healthcare professionals. Employees may be exposed to infectious diseases, bodily fluids, medical equipment, medications, and cleaning products.
