Railyard Field Technician

Location: Sweetwater, TX
Job Type: Full-Time, Non-exempt
Pay: $18 per hour

JOIN THE TEAM & KEEP THE YARD MOVING

We’re looking for a dependable, hands-on Railyard Field Technician to join our team. This is a variety-filled, active position where no two days are necessarily the same. You’ll help keep the railyard safe, clean, and operating efficiently while assisting with projects and learning the skills needed to support railcar switching operations.

What You’ll Do

  • Perform general labor and maintenance throughout the railyard

  • Assist with yard cleanup, organization, and housekeeping

  • Help with construction, repairs, and other hands-on projects

  • Assist with moving and switching railcars between tracks after completing training

  • Operate basic tools and equipment as needed

  • Follow all safety procedures and maintain a safe work environment

  • Jump in wherever needed to support daily yard operations

What We’re Looking For

  • Reliable, hardworking, and willing to learn

  • Comfortable working outdoors and performing physical, hands-on work

  • Able to work around railcars, tracks, equipment, and an industrial environment

  • Strong attention to safety and ability to follow instructions

  • Previous railyard, construction, maintenance, or industrial experience is a plus—but we’re willing to train the right person

  • Must be able to pass required background and pre-employment screening

Why You’ll Like This Job

If you enjoy working with your hands, staying active, learning new skills, and having a job where you’re doing something different every day, this could be a great fit. You’ll have the opportunity to learn rail operations and develop valuable skills within the railroad industry.

Come join a team where your work makes a difference in keeping the yard moving!

\nCompany Description

The Permian Basin moves more freight by rail than almost anywhere in the United States. Crude oil, frac sand, chemicals, agricultural products, construction materials — the rail network is the circulatory system of the region's economy.

And yet, for years, operators in West Texas who needed their cars cleaned, repaired, degassed, or stored had to ship them east to Houston or south to San Antonio. The region lacked a single full-service facility capable of handling the full scope of railcar services on its home turf.

West Rail was built to fix that. Not as a partial solution or a single-service shop — but as a comprehensive, BNSF-connected facility capable of handling the full railcar service cycle, right in the heart of West Texas.
