Janitor

Job Summary The Janitor is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, sanitary, and organized work environment throughout the facility. This role performs routine cleaning and sanitation activities in production areas, warehouses, offices, break rooms, and restrooms while ensuring compliance with Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) requirements and company sanitation standards. The ideal candidate is dependable, detail-oriented, safety-focused, and able to work independently while maintaining high standards of cleanliness and sanitation. Key Responsibilities Facility Cleaning & Maintenance Clean and maintain various facility areas, including: Warehouse spaces Production areas Offices Break rooms Restrooms Common areas Perform routine housekeeping duties such as: Sweeping Mopping Dusting Trash collection and removal General cleaning and upkeep Ensure all assigned areas remain clean, organized, and presentable. Sanitation Activities Perform sanitation procedures using approved cleaning chemicals and sanitizing agents. Utilize extremely hot water and approved sanitation practices as required. Wear a voluntary respirator and required PPE when performing sanitation tasks. Conduct ATP validation and verification testing following sanitation activities to ensure cleanliness standards are met. Follow all sanitation procedures and quality requirements. Equipment Operation Operate cleaning equipment, including floor scrubbers and other housekeeping tools, as needed. Maintain cleaning equipment in good working condition. Report equipment malfunctions or maintenance needs to management. Safety & Compliance Follow all Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) policies, procedures, and guidelines. Attend required safety meetings and complete mandatory training. Immediately report unsafe conditions, hazards, incidents, or environmental concerns. Perform all job duties safely and in compliance with company standards. Wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including steel-toed boots. Documentation & Process Compliance Follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) and cleaning protocols. Maintain cleanliness and sanitation records when required. Support facility inspections and compliance activities. Perform additional duties and special cleaning assignments as needed. Required Qualifications H igh School Diploma or equivalent. Minimum of 1 year of work experience. Strong attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness. Excellent verbal communication skills. Ability to follow instructions, procedures, and safety guidelines. Ability to work independently and manage assigned responsibilities. Willingness to work overtime and non-traditional schedules as business needs require. Ability to work hours necessary to complete assigned tasks. Preferred Qualifications P revious janitorial, housekeeping, sanitation, custodial, manufacturing, or warehouse cleaning experience. Experience operating floor scrubbers or commercial cleaning equipment. Experience working in manufacturing, warehouse, or production environments. Knowledge of cleaning chemicals, sanitation procedures, and safety practices. Physical Requirements Ability to stand and walk for the duration of the shift. Ability to frequently bend, stoop, kneel, and reach overhead. Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 pounds. Ability to perform repetitive cleaning and sanitation tasks. Ability to work with cleaning chemicals and hot water safely. Ability to wear required PPE, including steel-toed boots and respirators when necessary. Work Environment Manufacturing, warehouse, office, and production facility environment. Exposure to cleaning chemicals, sanitation agents, and hot water. Work may involve wet surfaces, varying temperatures, and industrial conditions. Required use of personal protective equipment and compliance with all safety p rotocols. Certifications (If Any) No specific certifications required. Janitorial, custodial, sanitation, environmental services, or workplace safety certifications are considered a plus. Education: High School or equivalent
