Clinical Nurse Manager

Adult Day Health | Washington DC | Full-Time Monday to Friday | No Evenings, Weekends or Holidays 

Use your nursing expertise to shape care, guide staff, and build trusted relationships with older adults and their families in a community-based setting. Iona Senior Services is seeking a District of Columbia licensed Registered Nurse to lead clinical services at our Wellness and Arts Adult Day Center.

This role combines nursing assessment, person-centered care planning, medication oversight, staff supervision, caregiver education, emergency response, and program quality. It may be a strong fit for an RN who values continuity of care, enjoys interdisciplinary teamwork, and wants to support older adults living with Alzheimer's disease and related dementias.

Our nonprofit organization supports more than 4,700 people each year through adult day health care, wellness programs, caregiver support, and other community-based services.

What You Will Do:

Participant Care and Clinical Oversight
  • Conduct nursing assessments and develop the nursing portion of each participant's person-centered care plan.
  • Monitor participant health, evaluate progress toward health goals, and update plans when needs change.
  • Oversee medication management and treatments in accordance with physician orders, including appropriate delegation.
  • Support participants experiencing complex medical, emotional, or behavioral needs and serve as a clinical resource to the care team.
  • Maintain accurate participant records and monitor dietary needs and participant safety during meals.
  • Design and oversee health-related group programming that supports functional and cognitive well-being.
Team Leadership and Program Quality
  • Orient, supervise, and train health aides and nursing students on their duties and applicable clinical policies.
  • Supervise the LPN and Med Tech when those positions are staffed and participate in interdisciplinary care plan meetings.
  • Plan clinical staff meetings and in-service education and keep staff informed about changes in participant care.
  • Lead infection prevention, incident reporting, emergency preparedness, clinical audits, and quality improvement activities.
  • Maintain required tuberculosis screening records, update clinical policies and procedures, and support regulatory reviews.
  • Manage the nursing budget and order medical and nursing supplies.
Family Collaboration and Emergency Response
  • Communicate regularly with caregivers about participant health and provide education and support based on individual needs.
  • Coordinate with primary care providers regarding changes in condition, medication adjustments, and additional services.
  • Respond to medical and behavioral emergencies, initiate emergency protocols, notify families, and complete required documentation.
  • Train staff on emergency procedures and individualized emergency care plans.
  • Build relationships with adult day centers, providers, and community referral resources.
What You Bring: Required Qualifications
  • Current Registered Nurse license in the District of Columbia.
  • At least two years of experience working with older adults.
  • Strong physical assessment, communication, documentation, and clinical judgment skills.
  • Current CPR and First Aid certification.
  • Documentation of an initial and annual negative PPD test or chest X-ray.
  • Computer literacy, including basic proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to lift 20 pounds.
Preferred Experience
  • Adult day health, community nursing, dementia care, or geriatric care experience.
  • Experience working as part of an interdisciplinary team.
  • Experience supervising or training clinical support staff.

Comprehensive Benefits Package:
