Job Type: Contract – 6 Months
Positions Available: 3
Schedule: 24 hours/week with opportunity to pick up additional shifts
Required Coverage: Every Friday, Saturday & Sunday
Shift Options
- 2nd Shift: 4:00 PM – 12:30 AM
- 3rd Shift: 12:15 AM – 8:15 AM

Position Overview
We are seeking experienced Psychiatric Registered Nurses (RNs) to provide nursing and behavioral health care in a specialized patient setting. The Psychiatric RN will work independently and as part of an interdisciplinary healthcare team to assess patient needs, administer treatment, develop care plans, and support the safety and well-being of individuals receiving mental health services.
Key Responsibilities
- Administer treatments under the medical guidance of a physician, psychiatrist, or other authorized prescriber.
- Conduct risk assessments and develop comprehensive nursing and mental health care plans.
- Participate as a member of an interdisciplinary treatment team in the assessment, development, implementation, and evaluation of individuals' mental health care plans.
- Provide wound care as needed.
- Observe and evaluate individuals to ensure quality care and report changes in mental health status to the healthcare team.
- Document nursing interventions accurately in medical records.
- Distribute and maintain records of controlled medications and ensure their security.
- Make decisions in routine nursing and patient-care situations.
- Utilize de-escalation techniques and therapeutic communication to maintain a safe and therapeutic environment.
- Develop nursing plans and address individual care needs with an emphasis on health and mental health awareness.
- Respond to emergencies and, when necessary, physically restrain individuals in accordance with established procedures.
- Maintain the availability of medications and medical supplies.
- Provide emotional support to individuals and their families.
- Ensure cleanliness and proper maintenance of equipment and the care environment.
- Formulate and implement nursing care plans as appropriate.
- Participate in and/or conduct training.
- Delegate nursing tasks in accordance with established protocols.
- Participate in psychotherapeutic and rehabilitation interventions.
- May serve as a Qualified Intellectual Disability Professional (QIDP).
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate will be a dependable and clinically skilled Registered Nurse with experience in psychiatric, behavioral health, correctional, or other specialized healthcare settings. Candidates should be comfortable working with individuals experiencing mental health challenges, responding to emergencies, and using therapeutic communication and de-escalation techniques.
Schedule Requirements
- 24 hours per week
- Must be available every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday
- Opportunity to pick up additional shifts
- Choose between:
- 2nd Shift: 4:00 PM – 12:30 AM
- 3rd Shift: 12:15 AM – 8:15 AM
- 6-month assignment
