Service Technician

About the Role

We are looking for a dependable, customer-focused Service Technician to support fiber and telecommunications services throughout New Castle, Glenwood Springs, Aspen, the Roaring Fork Valley, and Western Colorado.

This is a hands-on field position with a mix of residential, commercial, and outside plant work. Telecommunications experience is required.

You will work alongside an experienced technician who will provide hands-on training as you learn the company's equipment, processes, and network.

What You'll Do

• Perform service installations, repairs, troubleshooting, and maintenance for residential and commercial customers
• Install and route fiber, cable, conduit, and other network components as needed
• Perform fiber connections and splicing after appropriate training
• Work inside and outside customer locations to complete service installations and repairs
• Use hand and power tools to drill, mount, route, and install equipment safely and professionally
• Diagnose and troubleshoot connectivity and service issues
• Read basic maps, locates, and network information to determine appropriate installation and routing
• Interact directly with customers, explain work being performed, and provide a professional customer experience
• Maintain a clean and organized work area and protect customer property
• Follow all company safety procedures and properly use required PPE, tools, and equipment
• Travel throughout the assigned territory to complete service calls and installations
• Participate in an on-call rotation once fully trained
• Perform other field and technical duties as needed

Ideal candidates will have:

• Strong customer service and communication skills
• A positive, professional attitude and ability to work well with customers
• Mechanical aptitude and comfort learning new tools and technical processes
• Experience working with hand or power tools
• Some understanding of how homes or buildings are constructed
• Ability to work independently while also collaborating with another technician
• Experience with telecommunications/fiber
• Valid driver's license and a safe driving record
• Ability and willingness to travel significant distances throughout Western Colorado

Territory & Travel

This position is based in the New Castle area and requires the ability to regularly access New Castle for supplies and equipment.

The service territory is extensive and includes:

• New Castle
• Glenwood Springs
• Aspen
• The Roaring Fork Valley
• Western Colorado

Candidates must be comfortable spending significant time driving between service locations and working throughout the territory.

Work Environment

This is an active field position that may require:

• Working indoors and outdoors
• Working at residential and commercial properties
• Ladder and elevated work, potentially up to approximately 35 feet
• Lifting equipment and materials up to approximately 75 pounds
• Working in varying weather conditions
• Working in confined or tight spaces
• Driving significant distances throughout the assigned territory
