Mechanic

The Role

S&T Excavating is a pipeline construction and excavating company running a growing fleet of excavators, dozers, ,trucks, etc. across two locations, and we're looking for a Lead Mechanic / Maintenance Manager to run our shop and maintain our fleet. The Lead Mechanic / Maintenance Manager is responsible for keeping S&T Excavating's fleet of heavy equipment and trucks running safely and reliably.

What You'll Do

• Handle repairs across our heavy equipment and truck fleet
• Lead our shop mechanic and shop helper day to day: assign the work, check the quality, help them grow
• Manage parts, vendors, and service records
• Keep our trucks DOT compliant
• Ensure shop is clean and organized
• Travel to our second location to service equipment on-site when needed

What We're Looking For

• Solid, hands-on experience with heavy equipment: excavators, dozers, graders, trucks
• Comfortable managing parts orders, service logs, and vendor calls.
• Ready to lead a small team (guide shop helper and/or mechanic)
• Construction or excavating background preferred but not required
• A steady work history; we're looking for someone who wants to build a career
• Able to prioritize well when more than one thing needs attention at once
• Willing and able to travel to our second location when the job calls for it
• A valid driver's license in good standing; CDL a plus, not required
• Reliable, dependable, loyal, organized, and professional
• Ready to grow with us and comfortable taking on more responsibility over time as you and the company grow
