We’re seeking a skilled and dependable Cook II to support our food services team in delivering safe, nutritious, and well-presented meals to patients, staff, and visitors.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED from an accredited institution
- Minimum of two (2) years of experience working in large-scale food production
- Healthcare large scale food preparation experience. (preferred)
- Certificate in food preparation (preferred)
- City of Chicago/State Sanitation certificate (preferred)
Responsibility Highlights
- Correctly prepare all food served following standard recipes and special diet orders.
- Plan food production to coordinate with meal serving hours so that excellent, quality, temperature, and appearance of food is preserved.
- Ability to work all kitchen area cooking equipment.
- Follow sanitary regulations governing preparation and handling of food.
- Follow standardized recipes to ensure consistent quality; maintain accuracy of calculated diets; and avoid food waste.
- Prepare patients, cafeteria, and special event food items using production sheets.
- Determine amount and type of food and supplies required.
- Ensure availability of supplies and food or approved substitutions in adequate time for preparation.
- Prepare breakfast and lunch main entrees.
- Prepare all dinner items.
- Perform pre-preparation tasks as needed.
- Store food properly and safely.
- Report necessary equipment repairs and maintenance to supervisor.
- Adhere to department policies and procedures to assure the safety and sanitation of self, work area, and food items.
- Keep work area neat and clean at all times; clean and maintain equipment used in food preparation.
