Sheet Metal Fabricator lead installer

Gillmann Services is looking for an experienced Sheet Metal Lead Fabricator to oversee and perform sheet metal fabrication operations while ensuring projects are completed safely, accurately, and on schedule. The Lead Fabricator will work hands-on in the shop, provide direction to other fabricators, and ensure finished products meet customer specifications and quality standards.

• • Must be able to travel up to 50-75%.  Travel may be up to 2-week increments.  $50/per day perdiem for overnights.

Responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate daily sheet metal fabrication activities.
• Read and interpret blueprints, shop drawings, sketches, and specifications.
• Measure, lay out, cut, bend, form, and assemble sheet metal components.
• Operate fabrication equipment including shears, brakes, plasma cutters, saws, punches, and other shop machinery.
• Verify dimensions and finished products for accuracy and quality.
• Train, mentor, and provide direction to less-experienced fabricators.
• Troubleshoot fabrication issues and determine the best method to complete projects.
• Maintain production schedules and communicate progress to management.
• Ensure materials are properly identified, organized, and prepared for fabrication.
• Work closely with installers, project managers, and supervisors when necessary.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
• Follow all company safety procedures and OSHA requirements.
• Perform other duties related to sheet metal fabrication as needed.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of sheet metal fabrication experience preferred.
• Previous lead or supervisory experience preferred.
• Strong ability to read blueprints and shop drawings.
• Proficient with measurements and tape measures.
• Strong knowledge of sheet metal fabrication techniques and equipment.
• Ability to work independently and lead a team.
• Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality.
• Ability to lift materials and work on your feet for extended periods.
• Must have reliable transportation and dependable attendance.

Preferred Skills

• Experience with commercial or industrial sheet metal fabrication.
• Experience with stainless steel, aluminum, galvanized, and mild steel.
• Welding or brazing experience is a plus.
• CNC or computerized fabrication equipment experience is a plus.
• Experience with ductwork, architectural metal, or custom sheet metal is a plus
