Historical Records Preservation Specialist

Job Summary:
The Historical Records Preservation Specialist is responsible for carefully handling, organizing, preserving, and maintaining historical documents and records. This position requires strong attention to detail and the ability to work with delicate materials while following established preservation and records-management procedures.

Key Responsibilities:

• Handle, sort, organize, and preserve historical documents and records.
• Inspect documents for damage, deterioration, or other preservation concerns.
• Prepare documents for scanning, archival storage, and digital preservation.
• Accurately enter and maintain document and records information.
• Follow procedures for labeling, filing, and organizing historical materials.
• Operate basic scanning, imaging, and document-processing equipment.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area to protect historical materials.
• Ensure documents are handled carefully to prevent damage or loss.
• Perform quality checks to ensure documents are properly processed and recorded.
• Assist with general clerical and administrative duties related to records preservation.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Ability to handle fragile documents carefully and accurately.
• Basic computer and data-entry skills.
• Ability to work independently and follow detailed instructions.
• Previous experience in records management, document processing, archival work, or clerical support is a plus.
