Position Overview

We are seeking a Special Education Teacher to join a school district in Hickory, NC for the remainder of the 2026–2027 school year. This position will support students in a self-contained classroom setting with a moderate/severe caseload.

The ideal candidate will be passionate about creating a supportive learning environment and helping students reach their individual academic, behavioral, and developmental goals.

Position Highlights

• Full-time position – 37.5 hours per week
• ASAP start through May 2027
• 3rd–5th grade students
• Small caseload of 7 students
• Self-contained classroom
• Moderate/severe population
• Collaborate with school staff, families, and related service providers

Qualifications

• Active North Carolina EC Adaptive Curriculum license
• Experience working with students with moderate/severe disabilities preferred
• Strong classroom management and communication skills
• Ability to collaborate effectively with school-based teams
