General Accountant

We are seeking a General Accountant to join an established accounting team and support both transactional and general ledger accounting activities. This position is ideal for an accounting professional who has developed a strong foundation in areas such as accounts payable, accounts receivable, cash activity, fixed assets, debt, or purchasing and is ready to take greater ownership of reconciliations, journal entries, account review, and financial reporting.

The General Accountant will work closely with the broader accounting team, providing backup support across functional accounting areas while taking responsibility for more advanced accounting and close-related activities.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and post routine, cash-related, accrual, and corrective journal entries.
• Perform general ledger and balance sheet account reconciliations, researching and resolving discrepancies or outstanding items.
• Complete bank reconciliations and ensure cash activity is accurately reflected within the general ledger.
• Review general ledger accounts for accuracy, completeness, and proper classification.
• Assist with month-end and period-end close activities, including reconciling accounts and identifying necessary adjustments.
• Support financial reporting activities in accordance with applicable GAAP and IFRS requirements.
• Research accounting discrepancies and work across functional areas to resolve unreconciled or outstanding transactions.
• Provide backup and assistance across transactional accounting functions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, purchasing, cash receipts/payments, fixed assets, and debt-related activity.
• Partner with accounting team members to ensure transactions are properly recorded and supporting documentation is complete.
• Assist with maintaining accurate financial records and supporting schedules.
• Support accounting management with ad hoc reporting, analysis, and other accounting projects as needed.

Qualifications

• Previous hands-on accounting experience with a strong understanding of transactional accounting processes.
• Practical experience preparing journal entries and account reconciliations in a professional accounting environment.
• Experience reviewing or reconciling general ledger and balance sheet accounts.
• Strong understanding of the relationship between transactional accounting activity and the general ledger.
• Ability to investigate discrepancies, identify unresolved items, and bring accounts to reconciliation.
• Experience assisting with financial reporting and/or month-end close activities strongly preferred.

Pay Details: $48,000.00 to $52,000.00 per year
