Industsrial Controls Technician

Location:North Kansas City, MO

Compensation: $30.00-$40.00/hour

Role Overview

Serve, maintain, install, and troubleshoot electrical controls and process instrumentation for industrial clients including water and wastewater systems. You’ll work independently and collaboratively on pump control systems, VFDs, soft starters, specialty controllers, electrical panels, and a broad mix of field instruments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Service and maintain electrical controls typical to water/wastewater facilities.
  • Install, start up, calibrate, and troubleshoot flow, pressure, level, temperature, and analytical instruments.
  • Perform startup, troubleshooting, retrofits, repairs, and maintenance on pump control systems: across-the-line starters, soft starters, VFDs, and specialty pump controllers.
  • Execute electrical wiring, conduit runs, control panel setup, and service entrance work.
  • Support planning, installation, repair, and troubleshooting of new or modified electrical systems.
  • Diagnose issues and deliver timely, professional field service to customers.
  • Respond to emergencies, including travel and work outside normal business hours.
  • Maintain clear communication with customers, teammates, and leadership on status and needs.
  • Adhere to all company, customer, and applicable safety procedures.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED (required); technical/vocational education in mechanics, electronics, or electrical systems (highly preferred).
  • Proven skill in troubleshooting electrical control systems.
  • Background with process instrumentation, pump controls, VFDs, soft starters, or related electrical equipment (preferred).
  • Willingness to work overtime, respond to emergency service needs, and travel as required.
  • Strong communication, organization, and customer-service abilities.
  • Proactive, dependable, and adaptable in fast-paced settings.
  • Basic proficiency with Gmail, Microsoft Word, and Microsoft Excel.
  • Effective working independently and within a team.
  • Ability to safely lift, carry, and maneuver tools, parts, and materials for the role.
