Housekeeper – Part-Time (AM Shift) 40 hours per pay period
Shift: 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM | Every other weekend & holiday
Pay Range| $19.00-$20.00

Nature of Position: The primary purpose of your job description is to perform the day-to-day activities of the Housekeeping Department in accordance with current federal, state and local standards, guidelines and regulations governing our facility, and as may be directed by the Director of Plant Operations, to assure that our facility is maintained in a clean, safe, and comfortable manner.

 

Qualifications

Position Requirements:

  1. The must be able to meet the following physical requirements to complete duties listed in the job description:
  2. Must be able to bend, stoop, squat, crouch, and kneel occasionally.
  3. Must be able to twist, reach above shoulder height, push/pull wheelchair, or cart frequently.
  4. Must be able to be on their feet for most of their shift as assigned.
  5. Must be able to push, pull, move, or lift a minimum of 50 pounds to a minimum height of 5 feet and be able to push, pull, move, or carry such weight a minimum distance of 50 feet.
  6. Must be able to lift 50-200 pounds occasionally.
  7. Must be able to read and understand handwriting, regular print, and directions. Must be able to write in a legible manner.  Vision must be appropriate to read regular 10-point print with or without corrective lens.
  8. Must be able to hear sounds of resident calls for assistance when the resident is not within their sight.
  9. Must be able to work independently up to 100% of the time.
  10. Must be able to work rotating shift, every other weekend, and holidays.
  11. Must complete Criminal Background check as required to assure qualification for employment.
  12. Must understand and practice Standard Precautions.

 

Job Accountabilities

  1. Develop and maintain effective communication & cooperation with inter-departmental personnel, as well as other departments within the facility to ensure that all services and activities can be adequately maintained to meet the needs of the residents.
  2. Understand and perform job functions in relationship to environmental care.
  3. Maintain a clean environment for the resident. Follow proper infection control practices in all aspects of work.
    1. Recognize safety responsibilities of employee for the resident. Report occupational hazards and/or incidents of injury to appropriate personnel, in accordance with facility policy and procedures.
    2. Recognize employee’s responsibility for his / her own safety while on the job and for the safety of others. Recognize and remove environmental dangers.
    3. Complete maintenance service request slips for equipment in need of repairs. Include date, time, and signature on your request.

 

  1. Apply principles of good body mechanics when lifting and moving objects.
  2. Use transfer techniques consistent with proper body mechanics.
  3. Use safety devices, when appropriate, and implement their use.
  4. Develop knowledge of actions to be implemented in emergency situations.
  5. Follow established policies governing the use of labels and MSDS. Dispense chemicals as written and required.
  6. Dispose of refuse daily in accordance with our established sanitation procedures.
  7. Coordinate routine/terminal isolation procedures with nursing services.
  8. Keep supervisor informed of supply needs.
  9. Clean work/supply carts, equipment, etc., as necessary or directed.
  10. Ensure that equipment is cleaned and properly stored at the end of shift or when not in use.
  11. Perform day to day housekeeping functions as assigned.
  12. Perform specific tasks in accordance with daily work assignments.
  13. Clean areas using proper cleaning/disinfecting procedures.
  14. Inform residents when it is necessary to move his or her personal possessions during cleaning procedures.
  15. Practice fire safety and accident prevention procedures.
  16. Participate in disaster planning drills (fire, tornado, severe weather, etc.) when on duty.
  17. Maintain calm manner in tense situations.
  18. Maintain awareness and adhere to policy and procedures governing the operation of Glenwood Village Care Center.
  19. Attend orientation and receive instruction regarding department duties.
  20. Attend general orientation and assigned in service education programs.
  21. Understand use of department procedure manual.
  22. Must understand and adhere to Vulnerable Adult Abuse Prevention Policy.
  23. Must adhere to HIPPA privacy rules and regulations.
  24. Must uphold Residents Rights at all times.
  25. Demonstrate dependable professional work habits.
  26. Adhere to requirements set forth in personnel policy manual.
  27. Report absences, according to policy.
  28. Come to work on time and when scheduled.
  29. Make suggestions, complaints, or grievances in a constructive manner.
  30. Handle work-related situations regarding staff with confidentiality.
  31. Maintain good personal hygiene and grooming. Come to work clean and neat.
  32. Wear the proper uniform. Jeans may be worn on Fridays per personnel policy manual. No open toes shoes are allowed for direct care givers.
  33. Other duties that may become necessary/appropriate to assure that our facility is maintained in a clean, safe, and comfortable manner.
