Specialist Technician (High Voltage Diagnostics & Vehicle Systems)

What You’ll Do

As a Specialist Technician, you’ll be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and supporting development and production vehicles while serving as a technical expert for complex electrical and mechanical systems.


Key Responsibilities

  • Perform advanced diagnostics, troubleshooting, and repair of high-voltage vehicle systems.
  • Utilize Mercedes-Benz Xentry diagnostic and programming tools to identify and resolve complex vehicle issues.
  • Conduct precision vehicle alignments using Hunter alignment equipment.
  • Diagnose and repair electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical systems on development and production vehicles.
  • Install and retrofit prototype and development components into test vehicles.
  • Prepare vehicles for emissions and certification testing in accordance with government regulations.
  • Build and modify high- and low-voltage wiring harnesses and breakout boxes.
  • Perform software updates and programming of vehicle control units (ECUs).
  • Troubleshoot vehicle communication networks including CAN, LIN, FlexRay, and related systems.
  • Support vehicle development programs, prototype evaluations, and off-site testing activities.
  • Lead small technical projects independently while collaborating with engineering teams.
  • Accurately document diagnostics, repairs, testing activities, and technical findings.
  • Maintain a safe, organized, and efficient workshop environment.
  • Travel domestically and internationally as required to support engineering and testing initiatives.


What We’re Looking For

Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED (or equivalent work experience)
  • Mercedes-Benz Automotive Mechanic Certification
  • 8–10 years of professional automotive diagnostic and repair experience
  • Extensive experience with:
  • High-voltage vehicle systems
  • Electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical diagnostics
  • Mercedes-Benz Xentry diagnostics and programming
  • ECU diagnostics, software updates, and programming
  • Strong understanding of vehicle communication networks including:
  • CAN
  • LIN
  • FlexRay
  • Star1, Star2, and Star3.x systems
  • Experience using advanced diagnostic tools such as:
  • CANalyzer
  • CANape
  • DTS Monaco
  • Diagmera
  • Ability to analyze diagnostic data and determine root causes of complex vehicle issues.
  • Strong PC skills, including Microsoft Office applications.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, multicultural environment.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally, including occasional weekends.


Preferred Certifications

  • ASE A1–A8 Certifications
  • ASE 609 Certification
  • High-voltage battery or EV system experience
