Proman Staffing has partnered with a client to fill Direct Hire Packaging Machine/ Filler Operator roles in Mentor, OH

1st, 2nd, 3rd shift


The Packaging Operator is responsible for operating equipment to fill bulk adhesives/sealants into cartridges or other packaging vehicles and the palletization of that finished product for transfer to the Distribution Center

Packaging Operator Summary

Cleans vats as required and meets quality expectations.
• Reclaims cartridges as required.
• Reads and interprets filling process orders, understanding bulk material and packaging requirements, verifying the physical components prior to and during production. Records lot numbers and tracks packaging errors on filling work orders. This is all for 4-eye verifications to ensure the work orders are 100% accurate before filling.
• Prints bar code labels for units, case, etc. and ensures accurate application of items consistent with the work order instructions.
• Ensures accurate application of date codes on unit and case level.
• Operates filling equipment in accordance with production schedule.
• Performs operator maintenance as defined by the Maintenance Department.
• Identifies housekeeping infractions and takes actions to resolve.
• Enters production quantities in the ERP system.
• Operates in-line pigmenting processes.

Engagement and ownership of one's own work area and equipment. This includes the resultant quality of the product and administrative work being produced, the level of productive achievement and the housekeeping standards maintained.

Execution of minor equipment troubleshooting/repair and regularly scheduled operator maintenance

High school graduate or GED.
• Completion of any relevant manufacturing training requirements.
• Completion of operations and safety training matrix and schedule.
• Certified in operation of PITs where applicable.
• Demonstrates a professional, team-player attitude toward work and co-workers.
• Demonstrates strong communication skills.
• Demonstrates strong organizational skills.
• Must be dependable and punctual.
• Must operate with a sense of urgency.
• Able to understand and perform basic math.
• Demonstrates a thorough understanding of process order documentation.
• Demonstrates understanding of date code formats, label creation system and application of labels on unit, case, drum, etc. level.
• Able to lift up to 50 pounds on a repetitive basis.
Grade II
• Competent to operate no less than two different filling machine types.
• Demonstrates a full understanding of holding tank/valve/transfer line/pump/filler relationships where applicable.
• And/or is fully qualified to operate all aspects of one or more high-complexity packaging lines with in-line pigmenting processes (including, but not limited to appropriate quality checks, raw material pot charging, basic machine operation, troubleshooting and minor maintenance, etc.).
