Become a Sponsored Residential Provider and Make a Difference at Home
Hampton Roads, Williamsburg & Eastern Shore
Support Services of Virginia (SSVA) is looking for compassionate individuals, couples, and families in Hampton Roads, Williamsburg, York County, Gloucester, Mathews, Newport News, Hampton, Norfolk, Virginia Beach, Chesapeake, Portsmouth, Suffolk, Poquoson, Accomack County, Northampton County, and surrounding communities to open their homes to adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
Sponsored Residential Providers can earn approximately $48,000-$124,000 per year, depending on the support needs of the individual(s) served and applicable program funding levels. This opportunity allows providers to earn ongoing income while offering a safe, supportive, and welcoming home environment.
As a Sponsored Residential Provider, you will help an adult develop greater independence, participate in community life, work toward personal goals, and build meaningful relationships in a family-style home setting.
CompensationApproximately $48,000-$124,000 annually, based on the support needs of the individual(s) served and program funding levels.
Sponsored payments are issued biweekly.
ResponsibilitiesSponsored Residential Providers are responsible for:
- Providing a safe, stable, and welcoming home
- Supporting daily living skills, personal goals, and increased independence
- Encouraging community participation and meaningful relationships
- Helping individuals become active members of their communities
- Working collaboratively with SSVA to provide individualized support
- Maintaining a supportive home environment based on compatibility, lifestyle, and shared interests
- Required training at no cost
- Assistance throughout the certification and licensing process
- Ongoing support from an experienced SSVA team
- 24/7 on-call assistance
- Biweekly sponsored payments
Applicants must:
- Be 21 years of age or older
- Have a high school diploma or GED
- Be active and engaged in their local community
- Have at least six months of personal or professional experience supporting individuals with intellectual disabilities
- Be comfortable using technology and electronic documentation systems
- Have strong written communication skills
