The Kitchen Crew Member is responsible for preparing food in accordance with state and local regulations, company standards, and departmental guidelines. This role also supports guest service by assisting in the dining area when needed. The position requires versatility, attention to detail, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
Essential Responsibilities:- Prepare, cook, and present food items according to established recipes, portion standards, and presentation guidelines.
- Assist with food preparation activities including washing, cutting, chopping, portioning, and storing ingredients.
- Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of kitchen equipment, food preparation areas, storage areas, dishwashing stations, and dining spaces.
- Operate kitchen equipment safely and efficiently, including grills, fryers, ovens, microwaves, mixers, and dishwashing equipment.
- Follow all food safety, sanitation, health, and safety procedures in accordance with company policy and regulatory requirements.
- Monitor food quality, freshness, and temperatures to ensure compliance with food safety standards.
- Receive, stock, label, date, rotate, and store food products and supplies using approved inventory management procedures.
- Wash dishes, cookware, utensils, and kitchen equipment as assigned.
- Maintain adequate stock levels of food products, paper goods, cleaning supplies, and service items.
- Assist with opening and closing procedures including cleaning, stocking, equipment checks, and workstation setup.
- Remove trash, recyclables, and food waste from work areas while maintaining a clean and safe environment.
- Communicate effectively with management and fellow team members to ensure efficient kitchen operations and guest satisfaction.
- Respond promptly and professionally to guest requests and special food preparation needs.
- Report equipment malfunctions, maintenance concerns, safety hazards, inventory shortages, and food quality issues to management.
- Assist with special events, promotions, and high-volume service periods as needed.
- Attend required training sessions, staff meetings, and departmental communications.
- Maintain a professional appearance and adhere to all company grooming and uniform standards.
- Provide excellent customer service while supporting a positive guest experience.
- Perform other duties as assigned by management.
Position Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED, or one to three years of related experience or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Basic math skills for cashiering tasks.
- Ability to follow recipes, instructions, and safety procedures.
- Availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Must be 18 years of age or older in accordance with New Hampshire food-handling and gaming-facility regulations.
- Ability to stand and walk continuously for extended periods (up to 8+ hours per shift) while working in kitchen and service areas.
- Frequent bending, stooping, reaching, twisting, and crouching for food preparation, cleaning, stocking, and dishwashing tasks.
- Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull items weighing up to 50 pounds regularly (e.g., food supplies, boxes, trash bags, bus tubs) and occasionally more with assistance.
- Manual dexterity required for handling knives, kitchen equipment, small utensils, and food preparation tasks safely and efficiently.
- Ability to perform repetitive tasks such as chopping, stirring, plating, washing dishes, and cleaning surfaces.
- Capability to work in a fast-paced, high-volume kitchen environment while maintaining safety, sanitation, and quality standards.
- Ability to safely operate and work around kitchen equipment, including ovens, grills, fryers, dish machines, and sharp tools.
- Tolerance for working in environments with:
- High temperatures and humidity near cooking equipment
- Moderate to loud noise levels
- Exposure to steam, grease, and cleaning chemicals
- Occasional exposure to secondhand smoke and varied lighting (casino environment)
- Ability to work on wet or slippery surfaces and follow proper safety procedures.
- Visual ability to read recipes, labels, temperature gauges, and prep instructions; and hearing ability to communicate effectively in a busy kitchen environment.
