PURPOSE OF POSITION
The Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist is responsible for providing quality care in a Cath Lab environment and a positive interpersonal experience for the patient.
Performs interventional procedures by applying ionizing radiation to patients in a manner consistent with prescribed radiation protection safety standards under the direction of Physicians.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Assist the Physicians in all aspects of invasive procedures, including scrubbing, circulating, monitoring, and recording hemodynamic parameters in accordance with policy and procedure.
2. Assists in diagnostic interventional procedures operating interventional and other equipment/devices as appropriate.
3. Assumes care for the physical and psychological needs of patients during examinations and procedures to ensure safety and comfort while preparing for and undergoing interventional procedures. Provides explanation of procedures and answers pertinent patient questions to reduce anxiety and obtain cooperation.
4. Transfers patients onto medical equipment, wheelchairs, and stretchers.
5. Coordinates work to achieve maximum productivity.
6. Sets up sterile trays, cleans, and disposes of materials after procedures.
