The Quality Control Inspector is responsible for ensuring all fabricated and machined parts meet engineering blueprints, quality standards, and functional specifications before deployment.


Duties & Responsibilities

To perform the job successfully, the individual must be able to execute each essential duty satisfactorily.

Other duties, assignments, and specific projects may be assigned at the discretion of management.

  • Inspect all fabricated and machined parts against assembly, arrangement, and parts blueprints using

precision measurement tools (calipers, ID/OD gauges, height gauges, clearance gauges, hardness

testers).

  • Perform quality checks on major conveyor system components, including Carriers (using Check Jigs),

Dollies, Skids, Trolleys (through P/F Verticals/Horizontals), and Rails.

  • Create detailed Check Sheets documenting inspection points for all major components.
  • Verify department tags for accuracy, including quantities and paint colors.
  • Stamp and sign off on approved drawings, maintaining organized records sorted by inspection date.
  • Perform annual accuracy calibrations on shop workers tape measures and squares.
  • Attend weekly Lead Meetings to align on drawing check priorities and resolve ongoing quality issues.
  • Guide Lead Personnel on proper weld patterns when blueprint information is missing or unclear.
  • Assist Fabrication Leads in selecting and using correct end plates, jigs, and fixtures, advising them if

manufacturing processes risk damaging finished part quality.

  • Instruct shop personnel on required rework for parts failing inspection.
  • Collaborate with Engineering and support staff to resolve blueprint dimension errors or process

discrepancies.

  • Monitor workload against delivery schedules with the Shop Foreman, coordinating subcontractor

support when needed.

  • Travel to subcontractor sites to inspect fabricated parts destined directly for job sites.
  • Maintain the Quality Control room, ensuring all gauges, tools, and testing equipment are properly

stored and organized.


Qualifications and Skills

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum 8 years of hands-on experience in machining and fabrication.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience with conveyor systems and component functionality.
  • Proficient in reading and interpreting complex engineering blueprints.
  • Demonstrated technical proficiency with precision measurement tooling and check gauges.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Microsoft Excel, and shop network systems.
