Robert Half is seeking an experienced Interim CIO / IT Assessment Consultant to conduct a comprehensive assessment of an growing nonprofit’s current technology environment and provide strategic recommendations for future IT operations.


This position is a part time opportunity (20 hours per week and will require 2 onsite days. Apply today!


Duration: 3 months contract

Location: Seattle, WA – Hybrid, onsite once per week.

Schedule: Flexible, 20 hours per week

 

Job Responsibilities

  • Conduct a current-state assessment of IT systems, infrastructure, and applications, including costs, redundancies, and end-of-life technologies.
  • Evaluate the existing IT organization and staffing model, including the appropriate balance between internal resources and Managed Service Providers (MSPs).
  • Review core IT processes, including ticketing and support, change management, user access provisioning and deprovisioning, backup, and disaster recovery.
  • Validate the organization’s existing IT strategic plan and risk register, identifying potential gaps, risks, and additional opportunities.
  • Assess the organization’s security and compliance posture, including readiness for a HIPAA Security Rule risk analysis.
  • Develop prioritized recommendations based on business risk, cost, and organizational impact.
  • Provide recommendations regarding which IT capabilities should be maintained internally versus outsourced or purchased through third-party providers. 


  • Previous experience in a Director Level position or similar role.
  • Strong experience conducting IT assessments and evaluating technology environments.
  • Broad knowledge of infrastructure, applications, cybersecurity, IT operations, disaster recovery, and IT governance.
  • Experience evaluating IT organizational structures and current state assessments.
  • Ability to assess technology strategy, identify risk, and develop practical, prioritized recommendations.
  • Experience with security and compliance frameworks; healthcare and HIPAA experience is highly preferred.
  • Strong executive communication and written documentation skills.
