Litigation Attorney (Personal Injury)
Position Overview
We are seeking a Litigation Attorney with a strong focus on Personal Injury to represent clients in civil litigation from intake through trial. The successful candidate will manage a diverse caseload, develop case strategy, conduct discovery, negotiate settlements, and vigorously advocate for clients in court. This role requires excellent litigation skills, client communication, and a results-driven approach to obtaining favorable outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage a full caseload of personal injury and civil litigation matters, including client intake, case evaluation, and strategic planning.
- Conduct factual and legal investigations, coordinate with experts, and gather evidence to support claims.
- Prepare and file pleadings, motions, discovery requests/responses, and other court documents in a timely and accurate manner.
- Take and defend depositions, prepare witnesses, and handle all phases of discovery.
- Appear at hearings, mediations, and trials; present oral arguments and examine witnesses effectively in court.
- Negotiate settlements with opposing counsel and insurance companies while advancing clients best interests.
- Maintain consistent, clear communication with clients, keep them informed of case progress, and manage client expectations.
- Collaborate with paralegals, investigators, experts, and other attorneys to build strong litigation strategies.
- Ensure compliance with procedural deadlines, local court rules, and ethical standards.
- Assist in mentoring junior attorneys and contribute to continuous improvement of firm litigation practices.
Qualifications
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school and active admission to the state bar.
- Strong background in civil litigation experience with demonstrated experience handling personal injury matters (required).
- Proven courtroom experience, including taking depositions and trying cases to verdict.
- Knowledge of tort law, civil procedure, evidence rules, and litigation strategy.
- Excellent legal research, drafting, and oral advocacy skills.
- Ability to manage multiple files, prioritize deadlines, and work under pressure with attention to detail.
- Client-focused approach with strong interpersonal, negotiation, and communication skills.
- Familiarity with case-management software and legal research tools.
- Nice-to-have: direct experience with workplace accidents, wrongful death claims, motor vehicle accidents, and oil field accident cases.
- Valid drivers license and willingness to travel for client meetings, depositions, and court appearances as needed.
