Job Description
Make a meaningful impact in the lives of students by working as a Special Education Teacher, supporting early childhood and elementary students in an intensive skills environment. This full-time, onsite position is available immediately and runs through late May 2025. You’ll be collaborating closely with a dedicated team to facilitate learning and growth for students with varying needs, particularly those on the autism spectrum.
Desired Experience and Qualifications:
- Valid Kansas Special Education teaching license (KS SPED License required)
- Previous experience in early childhood or elementary intensive special education settings is highly valued
- Demonstrated ability to implement individualized educational plans for students with significant support needs
- Familiarity with autism spectrum disorders and evidence-based interventions for this population
- Strong classroom management, organizational, and communication skills
- Capacity to adapt lessons and teaching methods to meet students’ diverse learning profiles
- Willingness to work collaboratively with educators, support staff, and families
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and deliver individualized instruction for students with moderate to severe disabilities
- Create a supportive and structured classroom that promotes positive behavior, engagement, and learning
- Collaborate with related service providers and classroom assistants to ensure all student needs are addressed
- Assess student skills regularly and adjust interventions to maximize progress
- Document student progress and participate in IEP meetings with families and multidisciplinary teams
- Foster a nurturing, inclusive classroom community that values each student’s abilities
