Associate Attorney

A nationally recognized, full-service law firm is seeking a Labor & Employment Associate Attorney to join its expanding San Francisco employment practice. This is an exceptional opportunity for an attorney looking to work on sophisticated employment matters for a diverse roster of employers ranging from closely held businesses to large national organizations.

About the Role

The Labor & Employment Group provides proactive counseling, compliance guidance, risk management strategies, and litigation defense for employers across a broad spectrum of industries. Attorneys work directly with business leaders to address workplace issues and defend clients in complex employment disputes.

The ideal candidate will have experience handling employment litigation matters and a desire to develop strategic advisory skills while working within a collegial and entrepreneurial environment.

Responsibilities

  • Manage employment litigation matters from inception through resolution.
  • Draft pleadings, motions, discovery requests, and legal memoranda.
  • Conduct legal research and case analysis.
  • Take and defend depositions.
  • Attend court appearances, mediations, arbitrations, and settlement conferences.
  • Advise employers on California and federal employment law compliance.
  • Assist with drafting employee handbooks, policies, and employment agreements.
  • Partner with clients to develop practical solutions that minimize employment-related risk.

Qualifications

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.
  • Active California Bar membership in good standing.
  • 2-5+ years of employment litigation experience.
  • Experience with wage and hour litigation and PAGA matters is highly preferred.
  • Strong legal research, writing, and analytical skills.
  • Excellent communication and client relationship skills.
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple matters and deadlines.
