Zeochem is seeking an experienced Wastewater Utility Operator. The ideal candidate should have:

  • Wastewater treatment experience including handling caustics and acids
  • A mechanical aptitude to troubleshoot and maintain equipment including automated valves, performance pumps, MAG Drive pumps, agitator/gear box (for oil), and wastewater auto sampler
  • Team oriented approach to support maintenance and production

Summary
The Wastewater Utility Operator is a hands-on position responsible for the operation, monitoring, troubleshooting, and light mechanical maintenance of utility systems that support the manufacturing of Molecular Sieves. This role helps ensure utility systems operate safely, efficiently, and within environmental and operational requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate, monitor, troubleshoot, and perform light mechanical maintenance on utility systems supporting manufacturing operations, including the Wastewater Treatment System, DI Water System, Cooling Tower Systems, and Air Dryer Systems.
  • Conduct routine utility and wastewater treatment system inspections; monitor performance, record operating data, respond to alarms, and ensure systems are operating within established specifications.
  • Check pH levels of wastewater streams, monitor DI water quality, chemical feed rates, and other utility parameters; notify supervision of any operating issues.
  • Perform preventative maintenance and minor equipment repairs, including changing probes, replacing filters and components, cleaning and calibrating pH probes, equipment adjustments, and basic troubleshooting using hand tools.
  • Support utility operations through chemical handling activities, including unloading chemical deliveries, maintaining inventories, and initiating purchase orders for parts and supplies as needed.
  • Complete environmental monitoring activities, maintain accurate operational records, and utilize predictive maintenance tools to support equipment reliability.
  • Collaborate with Operations and Maintenance personnel to ensure safe, efficient, and reliable utility system performance.
  • Follow all safety procedures, PPE requirements, and environmental compliance standards and perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED and 1-3 years of related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience, required.
  • Experience working with hazardous chemicals, including acids and caustics, required.
  • Demonstrated mechanical aptitude with the ability to use hand tools, troubleshoot equipment, perform preventative maintenance, and complete light mechanical repairs on utility systems, required.
  • Control system experience and basic electrical knowledge, required.
  • Experience loading and unloading chemical deliveries and connecting/disconnecting chemical containers, required.
  • Availability to provide off-shift coverage and emergency response support as needed, required.
  • Must be able to successfully pass pre-employment physical, drug test, and background check
