Job Description

As a Unit Clerk, you’ll be an important part of the nursing unit—supporting our nurses and CNAs, assisting residents and families, coordinating communication, and helping ensure the day stays organized. Job Duties:As a Unit Clerk, you’ll provide administrative and clerical support to the nursing unit and help keep communication flowing between residents, families, nursing staff, providers, and other departments.
Responsibilities include:
Provide clerical and administrative support to the nursing unit
Answer phones and appropriately route calls and messages
Greet and assist residents, families, visitors, and staff
Maintain organized nursing station records, forms, and documentation
Assist with filing, copying, scanning, faxing, and other administrative tasks
Coordinate communication between nursing staff, physicians, ancillary providers, and other departments
Assist with scheduling appointments, transportation, and other resident-related services as assigned
Maintain and update resident information and unit records
Assist nursing leadership with reports, paperwork, and daily administrative needs
Monitor and maintain necessary forms and supplies at the nursing station
Help ensure physician orders, laboratory results, and other documentation are appropriately routed to nursing staff
Maintain confidentiality of resident and employee information in accordance with HIPAA requirements
Communicate professionally and compassionately with residents and their families
Support the nursing team with additional clerical duties as needed
High school diploma or GED required
Previous Unit Clerk, Medical Secretary, Medical Receptionist, or healthcare administrative experience preferred
Skilled nursing, long-term care, hospital, or other healthcare experience is a plus
Strong organizational and time-management skills
Excellent communication and customer service skills
Comfortable working with computers and electronic documentation systems
Ability to multitask and prioritize in a busy healthcare environment
Strong attention to detail and accuracy
Dependable, professional, and team-oriented
Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information appropriately
