CT Technologist Job Summary

Under general supervision and following established procedures, the CT Technologist operates CT equipment to acquire images for use by physicians in the diagnosis and treatment of various pathologies. This position requires the ability to float among radiology clinics and divisions as needed.

Responsibilities

• Operate CT equipment to obtain diagnostic images and information according to departmental protocols.
• Ensure patient preparation, positioning, and immobilization, using protective shielding as necessary.
• Select appropriate imaging factors and capture images of designated body parts.
• Communicate exam procedures to patients while considering their physical and emotional needs; maintain ethical standards and confidentiality.
• Collaborate effectively with departmental personnel and nursing staff.
• Calibrate and verify the operation of all equipment before use; report malfunctions to appropriate personnel.
• Execute necessary paperwork and manage Radiology Information System functions for each patient exam.
• Perform venipuncture for contrast administration under the guidance of a radiologist, adhering to hospital policies.
• Participate in staff meetings and maintain CEUs in accordance with licensure and certification requirements.
• Oversee and instruct personnel and students within the department as necessary.
• Prepare the equipment and supply rooms for daily operations; ensure necessary supplies are stocked.
• Engage in research programs, quality assurance, and improvement projects as directed.
• Maintain flexibility for shift coverage and overtime as necessary.
• Transport and transfer patients following departmental guidelines.
• Exercise independent judgment and initiative under pressure in various situations during patient exams.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Radiologic Technology program.
• Current state Radiologic and CT Technologist license; ARRT certification in CT is required.
• 2-3 years of experience as a Radiologic Technologist, including at least one year in CT.
• Demonstrated interpersonal skills for effective communication with patients experiencing physical or emotional stress.
• Analytical skills to acquire and apply knowledge of imaging processes, techniques, and cross-sectional anatomy.

Shift Information

This position requires night shifts, with a weekly commitment of 36 hours. Weekend work is also required.
